When I work in acrylic, I usually paint in the alla prima, or wet-on-wet technique using mediums that keep my paint malleable while I work. My abstracts are fluid, moving atmospheres influenced by land, sky and seascapes. I have always been inspired by how water flows around stones in a creek bed, how the sunlight changes the color of everything it touches. I explore color compliments/contrasts and brush/surface techniques to depict elemental relationships that I find in the natural world. I have been an artist all of my life, and my pursuits have been primarily realism. Abstract painting allows me to draw from my internal wellspring of creative expression without representational boundaries or expectations.
